Take control of programmable devices with JTAGMaster, a fully integrated solution for testing, diagnosing and programming FPGAs and JTAG-compatible devices. Using industry-standard boundary scan technology, JTAGMaster lets engineers observe and control individual pins, identify faults within a device chain, and build repeatable test procedures with images, datasheets, and reporting.
Supporting JAM, STAPL and SVF programming files, JTAGMaster can configure devices and verify their operation before and after programming. It also supports EEPROM programming through external adapters. Device libraries can be expanded using manufacturer BSDL files, while ABI software provides automated learning, pin-to-pin comparison and flexible test creation for faster, more consistent diagnostics.
A unique PCB designed to train new users on the principles of JTAG testing and programming but also to show the capabilities of the JTAGMaster unit along with its associated software interface, AIMs.
ABI JTAGMaster is a boundary-scan tester and programmer for PCB assemblies containing JTAG-enabled devices. Using the IEEE 1149.1 standard, it allows engineers to monitor and control device pins, test JTAG chains, investigate PCB faults and program compatible devices in-system. It is suitable for maintenance, design verification, production testing and field-service applications.
JTAGMaster is designed for boards containing one or more JTAG/IEEE 1149.1-compatible devices, usually presented in QFP or BGA packaging. It can automatically detect devices within a JTAG chain and use manufacturer-supplied BSDL files to understand their pin and boundary-scan configuration. Test coverage depends on the board design, available JTAG access and the capabilities of the devices in the chain. Non-JTAG circuitry can be diagnosed down to the component level using the ABI BoardMaster PCB diagnostic system.
JTAGMaster can help investigate manufacturing defects such as open connections and shorted pins, logic errors, incorrect or corrupted device programming and faults in connected circuitry. Pins can be monitored on static or operating boards, while EXTEST mode allows engineers to change individual pin states and observe their effect elsewhere in the JTAG chain. Measurements can be recorded and compared to produce clear pass or fail results.
Yes. JTAGMaster supports in-system programming of compatible programmable logic devices using industry-standard JAM STAPL and SVF files. It can also program supported serial EEPROM devices out of circuit using external adapters. Supported serial programming protocols include SPI, I²C and Microwire. Devices can be tested, programmed and then retested using the same system.
JTAGMaster specialises in boundary-scan testing and programming through the JTAG interface of compatible digital devices. BoardMaster is a broader PCB diagnostic system that combines Power ON and Power OFF test methods for analogue, digital and discrete circuitry. JTAGMaster is particularly valuable when component pins are physically difficult to access, while BoardMaster supports diagnosis across the wider circuit. The two systems provide complementary capabilities for increased component testing and troubleshooting coverage.
