AUTOMATE YOUR TEST SEQUENCES.

Multiplexed Matrix Switch

Expand Your Diagnostic Capabilities

Designed to work exclusively with ABI’s BoardMaster, the Multiplexed Matrix Switch (MMS) can deliver high-level results without the need for programming and for a fraction of the cost of traditional ATE, PXI or LXI instrumentation. Multiple test solutions can be easily set up for high channel count applications.

The MMS matrix interface offers 256 cross points to connect any channel to any channel, with up to 16 unique paths at a time. The MMS can also be used as a multiplexer or demultiplexer and is an economical alternative to automate low-to-medium volume test requirements. Combining the power of ABI’s Ultimate software and range of instrumentation, it delivers a unique solution to functionally test at volume, identify signal routing for design verification and data acquisition, and automatically measure and compare signals from up to 64 points on a circuit.

Multiplexed Matrix Switch FAQs

The ABI Multiplexed Matrix Switch (MMS) is an automated signal-routing unit for electronic testing. It connects ABI BoardMaster’s test instruments to multiple points on a circuit under software control, enabling repeatable functional tests, signal measurements, comparisons and data acquisition. MMS provides the switching and automation layer rather than operating as a standalone measuring instrument.

MMS can automatically measure and compare signals from up to 64 points on a circuit. It can operate as four banks of 16-channel multiplexers or as a 16 × 16 matrix switch with 256 crosspoints. The matrix can establish up to 16 separate signal paths at the same time.

MMS is designed specifically for ABI’s SYSTEM 8 modular test instruments available in the BoardMaster and SYSTEM 8 Ultimate software. It routes signals between the circuit under test and compatible ABI instruments, allowing their measurement and stimulus functions to be incorporated into automated test sequences. MMS is not intended as a universal switch for unrelated third-party instruments.

MMS supports low-to-medium-volume functional testing of electronic components, PCBs and complete assemblies. Typical applications include automated multi-point measurement, signal comparison, design verification, device degradation data acquisition and repeated production or maintenance tests. It can also operate as a multiplexer or demultiplexer where several circuit points must be connected to shared test equipment.

MMS can create automated test solutions through ABI software without the conventional programming normally associated with automated test equipment. It offers an economical alternative to traditional ATE, PXI or LXI systems for suitable low-to-medium-volume applications. Engineers must still define the test connections, procedures and acceptance limits required for the circuit or assembly.
