Notable changes for each release of SYSTEM 8 Ultimate are listed below, with the newest version first.

The format is based on Keep a Changelog, and this project adheres to Semantic Versioning.

[4.0.0] – 2026-04-14

    • Functionality improved for the clearing and saving of masks

    • Board checker instrument now displays 0V in demo mode
    • Improved short locator measurement accuracy

  • BFL

    • Runtime pin conditions now FAIL the test
    • Short locator now displays 0Ω in demo mode

    • Improved DSO mask handling behaviour

    • Default layout is now a Cabinet format

Removed

  • General

    • Removed support for legacy modules (VPS, MIS3), and their instruments, controls and script variables
    • Removed support for legacy interface methods (PCI/Parallel/Serial/ISA)
    • Removed superseded non-designable instruments (BFL, AICT, AMS)
    • 32-bit operating systems are no longer supported

  • Scripting

    • Python 2.7 Scripting support removed

  • General

    • Instrument controls are now disabled correctly depending on TFL operation mode

  • Help

    • Corrected RevEng connector pinout

  • AMS

    • Ensures the internal relays are disabled when the instrument is not running
    • Prevent duplication of .3dc names (prompt for overwrite if same filename exists)
